Biography

My name is Oscar Gonzalez and this is a little about me.

I value honesty, determination, and education.

Honesty may hurt immediately, but the despair of falsehood lingers permanently.

I believe through determination we give ourselves purpose.

“They say, find a purpose in your life and live it. But, sometimes, it is only after you have lived that you recognize your life had a purpose, and likely one you never had in mind.” – Khaled Hosseini

Every day I strive to learn something new. No matter how insignificant a detail it may be, this passion to further myself gives the day meaning.

I was raised in Perryton Texas with a family rich in tradition, support, and determination.

My early childhood had me regularly moving as my parents worked to give me a better home. My parents spent countless hours devoted to my personal and professional growth. I participated in little leagues for soccer as a forward and goalie winning local tournaments. This was a past time I did not appreciate enough at the time. My Sundays and Wednesdays where spent contributing at the Catholic church. The seemingly endless sermons and Hail Mary’s are nowadays looked back on in respect. There was also after school activities in the Gifted and Talented program that challenged my critical thinking and helped develop my love for education.

However, my most fond memories are the afternoons I spent riding though the rain on a rusted Huffie. The smell of rain, the cool wind on my skin, and the bleakness of a town covered in shade are vivid sensations in my memory. Even beyond the thrill of competition, the devotion to a higher cause, and the spectacle of discovery; these moments of serenity are most difficult to recreate.
